The Sensation of Sonny & Perley

Sonny and Perley both have a lifelong love of music, dating back to their childhoods. Ella Fitzgerald’s voice was first Perley remembers hearing, and Sonny began playing drums at age 7.  Sonny and Perley, independent of each other studied and performed at Chicago and Texas, but it was in upstate New York that they first met and immediately fell in love. They currently maintain a very busy performance schedule, continuing a long legacy. Given their love and incorporation of jazz, it is entirely appropriate that their performance was part of the Berkshire Gateway Jazz Festival in Lee, Mass.

I attended this remarcable performance by the husband-and-wife musician duo at the Spectrum Playhouse on June 5th, 2014.  Their concert covered several styles of music, ranging from Jazz to Brazilian to classics from the Great American Songbook. The concert had a very full and appreciative crowd. The atmosphere was rather warm and inviting, as well as the music sung by Perley and played by Sonny and several other musicians.

Here is a quick video from the concert: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MMmGp0y8BU

Watch out for more upcoming music events this summer at the Spectrum.
