Movie Club rolls on with “Man of Steel”

This month saw the semester’s first gathering of the Student Movie Club on Friday, February 7th. For the uninitiated, the event consisted of a screening of a movie at Spectrum Playhouse followed by a discussion of the movie in question. There was popcorn, candy, and water for sale on site. Movie Club was attended by film-fan students from College Internship Program (CIP) that utilizes Playhouse space for many of it’s events in Lee, MA.

The movie shown this time was the latest Superman movie Man of Steel.  The screening was followed by a brief discussion on the theme of family, which fits well with the Superman myths, being that the Man of Steel is himself a child of two worlds (his home planet, Krypton, and Earth).

While I enjoyed Man of Steel well enough when I saw it during original theatrical release, the film’s flaws were far more pronounced on a second viewing.  Still, it was nice to spend time with my fellow classmates, and the popcorn was pretty good, so I guess I had a decent time.
